Contra dance is a lively and fun activity that’s easy to learn and a great way to get your heart pumping. Join us for an exciting evening—you won’t regret it!
A contra dance is a social event where you don’t need a partner to attend. Dancers form couples, and couples create sets of two pairs in long lines that stretch from the stage to the back of the hall. As the dance progresses, couples move up and down the line, eventually dancing with everyone in their set.
The dance is guided by a caller who explains the sequence of moves before the music begins. Many find contra dancing easier than other social dances because the caller provides instructions, and there’s no need to worry about complex footwork. Just come ready to have a great time! Children are welcome.
